CHOOSING A HIGH SELF- WORTH
Article 9 of the Tribe Conversation
It appears to me that for one to develop a reverence for time the way I talked about in the last article, one must have a high sense of self-worth and value. Until this choice is made, a reverence for time will be a struggle and so will tribal consciousness.
I am not a trained professional and I am sure one might have a lot to say about what I am suggesting here, but this is my perspective gained from my experience and observations. Self-worth is, and needs to be a choice, albeit oftentimes a difficult one. I will not suggest it is easy, but would we rather linger in the torture of low self-worth?
By choosing high self-worth, our moments become more valuable and a reverence for time begins. The deep work of tribal consciousness begins with a reverence for time and a reverence for time begins with deciding to have high self-worth.
How do we make the choice of high self-worth? I believe we do this by becoming a great value to those around us. When we look at ourselves and wonder why we may be deficient or of low worth, we continue to produce more of it. However, if we can build a track record of being valuable to others, we begin to perceive ourselves as valuable.
This is how I overcame my feelings of low self-worth. I took my eyes off what I thought I wasn’t, focused them on ways to be valuable to others, and remade my choice to be of high self-worth. This choice was much easier when I began being valuable to my tribe.
If you are struggling with low self-worth and a low reverence for time, try focusing some energy to be valuable to your family, friends, colleagues, and community and see if you can recognize how valuable you really are.
